Service Animal Policy

Service animals are always welcome at all our cafés. In accordance with Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code, we must ensure that customers with service animals are fully accommodated.

Here are some important guidelines for welcoming customers with service animals:

Service Animals Are Allowed: A person with a disability has the right to be accompanied by their service animal in all areas of the café where the public is allowed to go. This includes indoor seating, patios, and ordering areas.

Respecting Privacy: Customers with a service animal should not be asked questions about their disability. This is personal health information and must remain private.

Identification: Service animals are usually identifiable by harnesses, vests, or other identifying gear, but they do not need to wear specific identification. It’s important to remember that not all service animals are visibly marked.

Respecting Space: Service animals are working, so it’s essential not to distract or pet them while they’re on duty. Please avoid interacting with the animal unless the customer invites you to do so.

Safety and Hygiene: Ensure that the animal is under control at all times. If there is any concern about the behavior of the animal, you may politely address it with the customer. However, the customer’s safety and comfort come first.

Exclusions: The only time we may ask a service animal to leave is if it is disruptive or poses a safety risk to others. Otherwise, service animals are permitted.

Assisting Customers: If you are unsure about any situations or need guidance on how to assist a customer with a service animal, please ask a manager.

Let’s work together to ensure that we provide an inclusive and welcoming experience for all our guests. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.
